Both CBI and Local Police have full Police Powers to investigate all cases. They are empowered by certain Acts of Parliament to carry out these functions. The CBI derives its powers from the DSPE (Delhi Special Police Establishment) Act. Let us now look at both these organisations closely.

Maharashtra Police :We generally call the Maharashtra State Police as the Local Police. Every district is headed by a Superintendent of Police (SP) and the cities are headed by a Commissioner of Police.
